Ovulation and determining Pregnancy

Before we discuss how ovulation determines pregnancy, let us first define ovulation. Ovulation is part of the menstrual cycle at which mature ovarian follicle ruptures and discharges an ovum (also known as an oocyte, female gamete, or casually, an egg) that participates in reproduction. Every month, an ovum matures inside the ovary.

Ovulation takes part in pregnancy. In order to get pregnant, the ovum should meet with the sperm through sexual intercourse which should occur in one to two days before ovulation to about 24 hours afterward.

It is best that you are familiar with your menstrual cycle and know when exactly you ovulate. Figures show that 85% of women who have sex without birth control has the likelihood to get pregnant within the year.
